there are sweet rides all over this place

im now working two jobs, one as a barman at the alyangula golf club, take out window above and friday night karaoke below, my ears hurt, then bled and then i felt a pain in my soul that i cant exactly explain. they "sang" at least ten in a row, no joke.

                      raynees mum has been flowing me phantom comics, haven’t read them
                      since i was a kid. occasionally you will get an awesome cell such as this.

i swear to you this burger was ten times over the worst i have ever consumed, but for the 25 dollars i paid for it the pain in my wallet made me eat the whole thing. bought from the dugong resort.

for my second job im working at the school tutoring assistant indigenous teachers.
it is super challenging but rewarding on multiple levels.
here is a map of indigenous aus that is super awesome.
it is what i would call a real map of australia.

there are no railway crossings here, but they do have the equivalent dedicated to letting these bad boys pass. they drive up and down it all day and the tires are around 3 metres high which is hard to tell from this angle.
get an idea of the size of these things here. funnily enough they are autos too.
i wanna get a job driving one so bad, it would be a step up from the van!

raynee has also been blogging pretty hard, harder than me!
she started a blog called Eylandt Lyfe which is well, pretty self explanatory.

one of my all time dream rides, dont know the year. but if im ever gettin a 4WD
..then make mine a vintage troop carrier.

so instead of the “stop the carnage” road toll/heroin toll of melbournes worst newspaper,
the newspaper in darwin (the name of which the eludes me) instead has the amount of croc captures in the year so far!
seems like they have it under control.

as luck would have it, our resort as nice as it appears, double booked our other room and we subsequently got moved to the staff quarters, raynees face when she saw the size of our new telly was one of abhorrence and dismay, i felt bad for her.
we’re now living in a room that is basically built to house a bed.
oh and i got a job tutoring assistant indigenous teachers, ill most likely have more on that later.

on the hunt

last friday, the 4th. i was privileged to be able to go on a hunt organised by CDEP with some local aboriginal boys, we had to drive around in a troop carrier to pick em all up from their abodes in and around the small community of angurugu.
It’s a pretty real little suburb, i felt a bit uneasy just shooting out the window of the car so this is all i got of that.

i hope to capture more of this in later times as i find it all quite fascinating.

we headed out on a normal looking road that soon turned into what was in some sections basically driving down sections of a small creek.
excellent.

here are the guys.

we ended up on the beach at the mouth of a river i dont know the name of.
of course the scenery is jaw dropping, seems like the general idea here.
i can see this blog is very fast going to turn from the ur-banality and depression of those pockets of ghetto suburbia in melb, to the polar opposite landscape and related of groote eylandt.

as we soon found out, this is pretty much a day to day occurrence.
bloody amazing.

raynees parentals live on a yacht a 15 minute tinny ride away from a protected area known as bartalumba bay. its a crazy piece of land. im sure ill have more on that and the yacht later down the track.

anyway, the first night/day we spent on the yacht was really really rainy and super steamy.
bareable enough. hopefully my cold melbourne blood acclimatises itself pretty soon…

next day, back at the resort, another epic sunset.

the moon is also really awesome here, more on that in later posts.

we had a garage sale before we left, it got shut down by the council, i made $5.
I also promised these videos and another box of em’ to a couple of people, prior if your reading this i still have a box of VHS for ya, it’s just in storage for now.

i also somehow i ended up with heaps of 2nd hand boards, they were all gone within an hour of me putting them here.
the “exalt the new god” alien board was skated by all the girls fave, dylan reider
